The primary role of a Gurney Van Driver is transporting non-emergency, ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher patients to their desired destinations, such as doctor’s offices, nursing and rehabilitation facilities, and more. With this rewarding role, the driver must observe that all passengers reach their locations safely and promptly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

General Responsibilities:

  • Knows how to safely operate Gurney Van vehicles
  • Transfers patients to and from facilities or their residences
  • Maintains a clean and decontaminated vehicle

We expect our professionals to adopt the following practices:

  • Must always present themselves professionally by wearing appropriate attire
  • Be prompt when arriving to point A
  • Immediately contact dispatch to receive concise directions
  • Do rig checks for safety concerns (oxygen tanks, proper PPEs, blankets, pillows, and more)
  • Launder and fold clean sheets, towels, and blankets
  • Acquire paper works after every transport
  • Make sure documents are signed correctly before submitting them at the end of the shift
  • Check all equipment if it’s working, such as phones, Gurney, iPads, batteries charged, and more
  • Sanitize vehicles and equipment after every use
  • Must update the communication board
  • Make sure the rig is cleaned well courtesy of the next crew
  • Make sure the rig is filled with proper gas or diesel after every shift
  • Leave the keys hanging for the next shift
  • And many others

This position requires the following:

  • A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • A clean OMV record
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This position has the following physical demands:

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use their hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must have proper physical strength, balance, and hand-eye coordination.
  • The employee must be able to lift and carry up to a hundred pounds with or without assistance available.
  • The employee must have the ability to perform under stressful circumstances and high-volume demands.
